Downtown Dublin Opens Its Doors to Local Artists!
Things are changing, and First Friday is getting a face lift! In true street art style, the sidewalks of Downtown Dublin will become the canvas for the artists of Dublin-Laurens County on May 5th. Downtown is no doubt the home of good food, good people, and good music - and we think it's about time that we bring all those things together in the heart of our Downtown!
"A picture's worth 1,000 words."
No doubt a picture can communicate in a single glance what the mouth would take hours to explain, but seeing the creation of what's in the picture in real time will leave crowds speechless. We're taking artists out of the gallery and putting them in front of you. Downtown will create the chance to see the artist at work. Musicians, painters, tap dancers, encaustic art, sidewalk chalk art, photographers, hair transformations, and makeovers - it will all be created in real time right in front of your eyes. Did we mention the creators will be familiar faces?
Downtown Walking Wine Tasting
While you're taking everything in, take part in our downtown merchant's walking wine tasting and fabulous discounts. Each merchant will offer a different type of wine within their store, and everyone knows art and wine are the perfect match! The discounts will be magnificent, the art will be captivating, and the good time will be out of this world.
We have a winner!
A basket stuffed full of merchandise from our downtown merchants will be raffled off at the end of the May 5th First Friday. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase the night of the event, so stick around, buy some raffle tickets, and win hundreds of dollars worth of the best goodies in town!
Something for the kids!
Art is passed from generation to generation, so we're starting a fun art project right here in Downtown Dublin. "Dublin Rocks!" is a fun activity that allows kids to have an ongoing scavenger hunt - and we're kicking it off on May 5th at First Friday. Find a rock, paint it, and hide it downtown! Post to the Facebook page when you've hidden your rock, and have fun as others go find rocks, re-hide, and trade them.
We'll also have inflatables and face painting. Come join the fun!
