The tallest eyesore between Macon and Savannah.
The 1912 First National Bank building continuously fell from it's reign of glory since the 1950's, and was finally shuttered in the 80's. Three decades later, a savvy DDA, a benevolent developer, and an eager tenant all merged to finally reel in this gigantic fish.
A grand resurrection.
Fondly known by locals as "the Skyscraper," the FNB building reopened in September 2015 as Georgia Military College's Dublin Campus. The $4.2 million restoration features a locally owned bistro on the bottom floor, classrooms, study areas, and private professional office space on the top floor.
Expanding Deano's
The quintessential downtown development project.
Deano's Italian, a nationally-acclaimed anchor restaurant in downtown Dublin, was looking to expand its dining space in 2011. DDA acquired the property, re-established its historical facade, and renovated the interior. Fast forward five years, Deano's expanded into the building, added a second kitchen, and has reached annual earnings of $1.4 million. Now, that's a success story.
Goodbye, 1970s.
Hello, 1920s.
